Jenni + Dan’s Mountainside Wedding at The Barn at Boyden Farm
Vermont has a special place in my heart – it’s where I got married, where we love to ski and visit family – and love to frequent as much as possible. And Jenni also has a special place in my heart – we grew up skiing together back home at Otis Ridge. Racing, teaching, becoming ski camp counselors, and taking our Professional Ski Instructor certs together. Jenni and I go way back. So when she got in touch regarding her wedding to Dan – it was a yes from the minute we chatted. What an amazing way to bring things full circle!
Jenni and Dan got married at The Barn at Boyden Farm in Cambridge, VT on a really perfect date, October 7th (my birthday!!) I traveled north from MA for their nuptials and arrived at their breathtaking venue. The view of the mountains, the changing leaves – all of it was stunning. It was even the perfect temperature. Just perfect.
But by the time I unloaded by gear and came back outside from having changed my clothes – it had started to rain. I can’t say it wasn’t beautiful in the rain, because it sure was, but Jenni and Dan had planned to get married outdoors under a gorgeous homemade arbor. Their cocktail hour included lawn games and their reception would include a fire pit with smores. Humph.
But as the minutes ticked by and the ceremony came closer, something miraculous happened. Literally within minutes of the bride walking down the aisle. The rain stopped and the sun came out. The perfect day.
Jenni was an incredibly laid back bride – not even walking through the still-wet grass phased her. The two were just happy to be surrounded by their family and friends – relaxing, enjoying and celebrating. Following the ceremony, the bridal party and their families toasted with baked apple liquor and we had a luxurious amount of time for portraits. We stood in the vineyard, we walked the winding path, they posed in front of this incredible mountain view.
Their cocktail hour and reception followed the same path – laid back, relaxed and delicious. The meal, served family style, was some of the best I have eaten (and I eat a lot of wedding food!) and from what I hear, the wine from Boyden Farm did not disappoint. The gorgeous cakes were baked by the bride and her grandmother – make sure you scroll through to the photo – they were perfect. They also had so many fun touches – the skis to designate the location of the days events, the ski guest book – it was so personal and representative of them. They met skiing in Vermont – it could not be more appropriate.
The couple got to experience it all – sunshine, rain, an absolutely breathtaking sunset, a rainbow. The band was amazing and everyone danced the night away, or sat under the stars and roasted marshmallows. It was a perfect night.
I’m so excited to share photos from Jenni & Dan’s amazing day – it was so much fun putting this together and reliving it. Congratulations, you two! Thank you for including me in your memories!
